Gold is compact, globally recognised, and widely used as a long-term store of value. For UK buyers, investment gold also has a favourable VAT position compared with most other physical metals.

Choose gold coins if recognisability, smaller resale parcels, and CGT treatment matter. Choose gold bars if your priority is usually the lowest premium over metal content.

Investment-grade gold is generally VAT-free in the UK. UK legal-tender gold coins, including Britannias and Sovereigns, are also commonly chosen because they can be CGT-exempt for UK residents.

Live pricing starts from the current gold spot price and adds the product premium. Larger bars often carry lower percentage premiums, while popular coins may trade at stronger resale demand.
