Description
The 2014 Gold Sovereign Unfrosted Obverse Die is a distinct variety of the Royal Mint’s standard 2014 bullion issue. Its obverse carries Ian Rank-Broadley’s fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, but without the usual frosted finish, leaving the portrait with a brilliant appearance. The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci’s St George and the Dragon design, first introduced in 1817. Certified NGC MS69, this £1 Sovereign is recognised by NGC as the Unfrosted Obverse variety. It was struck in 22-carat gold.
