The 1963 Gold Sovereign NGC MS64 belongs to the first-portrait group of Queen Elizabeth II sovereigns, issued from 1957 to 1968. Mary Gillick’s obverse shows the Queen wearing a laurel wreath, while the reverse carries Benedetto Pistrucci’s 1817 design of St George slaying the dragon. Certified NGC MS64, this 22-carat gold sovereign weighs approximately 7.98 grams and is 916.7 fine. The Royal Mint struck 7,449,000 sovereigns in 1963.
