Description
The 1oz Gold The Queen's Beasts Lion of England is the first of ten designs in The Queen's Beasts series. Issued in 2016, its reverse depicts the crowned Lion of England holding a shield bearing the Arms of the United Kingdom. Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark created both the Lion reverse and the obverse portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The series draws on the ten stone statues sculpted by James Woodford for the Queen's 1953 coronation at Westminster Abbey. This £100 bullion coin contains one ounce of 999.9 fine gold.
