The 2oz Silver The Queen's Beasts Lion of England is the first design in the ten-coin Queen's Beasts bullion series. Its reverse shows the Lion of England holding a shield bearing the Royal Arms, while the obverse carries the fifth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II against a guilloche background. Dated 2016, the coin contains two troy ounces of .9999 fine silver and has a £5 legal tender face value. Jody Clark designed both sides. The series draws on James Woodford's ten plaster statues created for the Queen's 1953 coronation at Westminster Abbey, and this issue marked the Royal Mint's first two-ounce silver bullion coin.
