Description
The 2oz Silver The Queen's Beasts Griffin of Edward III is a 2017 Royal Mint bullion coin and the second design in the ten-coin Queen's Beasts series. Its reverse shows the Griffin clutching a shield bearing Windsor Castle, Edward III's birthplace, while the obverse carries Queen Elizabeth II's fifth definitive portrait. Jody Clark designed both sides of this £5 UK legal tender issue. Struck in two troy ounces of .9999 fine silver, it measures 39.10mm in diameter. The series draws on James Woodford's ten plaster statues created for the Queen's 1953 coronation.
