This is a randomly selected, ungraded 1 oz Gold Britannia bullion coin from The Royal Mint, dated between 1987 and 2012. It carries a £100 denomination and contains one troy ounce of fine gold within a 22-carat, 0.9167 fine alloy. These coins represent the original 22-carat era of the Gold Britannia series, ending before the move to 24-carat gold in 2013.
The date supplied will determine the precise obverse portrait and reverse design. Britannia commonly appears as the female personification of Britain, with her shield, olive branch and trident referring to protection, peace and Britain’s maritime connection; however, designs varied across this period. First introduced on Gold Britannia bullion in 1987, the figure draws on a much longer British coinage tradition. A fitting choice for buyers seeking a Royal Mint gold bullion coin from the early chapter of the Britannia series, with the added interest of a randomly allocated date and design.
