What is the difference between a Napoleon and a Rooster?
Both are 20 Franc coins with the same gold content. Napoleons carry an emperor’s portrait; the Rooster shows Marianne with a cockerel on the reverse. Most are priced on gold content, while scarce dates can be worth more.
Which French Gold Franc denominations do you buy?
We buy the main 10, 20, 40, 50 and 100 Franc gold coins, as well as less familiar French gold pieces. If you are unsure what you have, send a clear photograph and we will help identify it.
Do you buy French coins that were mounted in jewellery?
Yes. We buy mounted coins and coins that have been removed from mounts. Solder, edge damage or polishing can affect the final offer, and we explain any adjustment before you decide.
Can a scarcer date or graded French Franc be worth more?
Yes. Scarcer dates, branch-mint marks, large denominations, high grades and professionally graded coins may carry additional collector value, so we assess those individually.
How and when do I get paid?
Once we have inspected your French Gold Francs and you accept the final offer, we arrange payment by cash or bank transfer. For coins sent by post, payment is by bank transfer.
